IAF aircrafts hit smuggling tunnel in northern Gaza Strip in response to rocket fire

On Sunday morning (Aug 30), a smuggling tunnel in the northern Gaza Strip was successfully targeted during a joint operation of the Israel Air Force and the Israel Security Agency. The tunnel was dug from underneath a building located 1.5 kilometers from the security fence, and was intended to be used by terror operatives to enter Israeli territory in order to execute a terrorist attack against Israeli citizens and IDF soldiers.

Precise hitting of the target was identified and all IAF aircrafts returned safely to their military bases.

The attack was carried out in response to a Qassam rocket fired from the Gaza Strip into Israeli territory on Saturday morning (Aug 29).

On Sunday morning (Aug 30), fire was opened at IDF soldiers carrying out engineering works next to the security fence in the northern Gaza Strip. There were no casualties and no damage was reported.
