According to data published on Thursday (Feb. 4) on the website of the Israel Security Agency, there has been a clear significant rise in the number of terror incidents in January. The published data showed that in January there were 80 attacks on civilians and soldiers, compared to 51 in December, an increase of 57% in total.
Terrorist events on all fronts including the area surrounding the Gaza Strip, Jerusalem and the Judea and Samaria region were recorded. The data suggests that an increase occurred particularly from rocket fire from the Gaza Strip into Israel, with 28 mortars and 13 rockets fired in January, compared to nine rockets and mortars in December. In addition to that, one Israeli civilian was wounded as a result of stone throwing in the Judea and Samaria region.
In the Gaza Strip, 32 cases of terrorism were reported, compared with 19 cases in December. In Jerusalem, 11 incidents occurred compared to only four the previous month, while 37 terrorist attacks took place in the Judea and Samaria region, compared to only 28 incidents in December.
The summary shows that in the Judea and Samaria region, 38 out of 48 incidents were characterized by the throwing of Molotov cocktails. Four cases were planted explosive devices, three stone throwing, a grenade and a small fire arm incident.
