Since the establishment of the State of Israel, the reserve troops have been a vital source of the IDF's strength and serve in emergency situations as well as routine IDF operations. In the past few years, the reserve service has become more difficult and demanding widening the gap between those who participate in this service and those who opt out. The "Bravermen" Committee was formed to create a new reserve system, and to lighten the service of the reservists. In March 2005, the Government implemented the committee's advice. In May 2005, the first Reserve Appreciate Day was held and the new rules regarding the Corps were announced in the Knesset. The new reserve system will be fully implemented on March 2008.
