The Shoval is able to remain in the air for thirty hours, can carry large amounts of ammunition and can achieve unprecedented heights. “The unmanned aerial vehicles that are still being acquired by the IAF, is an example of the advancement in the level of standards in the unmanned aerial vehicle field.  Its carrying capabilities, its versatility and its performance, stands alone in the international technological forum," said IAF Commander, Major General Eliezer Shkedy, during the ceremony for IAF aircraft intake.

The unmanned aerial planes were added to the IAF arsenal only after the second Lebanon war due to the pressing need for more sophisticated aircraft. "The UAV participates in numerous missions and operations, showcasing capabilities not found in any other system.  Its participation in the Previous War aided in localizing and targeting enemy missile launchers and in other vital intelligence missions”, said the Palmachin Base Commander, Brigadier General Gabi Shachur.
