Major General Yishai Be'er was born in 1956

  • In 1974 he drafted into the IDF as a combat soldier in the Paratroop Brigade
  • In 1976 he took part in operation Entebbe as a platoon leader
  • In 1976 he took part in Operation Litani as a company commander

 
Major Genral Yishai Be'er completed his regular service and served as a reservist in a number of positions:

  • In 1982 he took part in the Lebanon War a reserve company commander
  • In 1979 he served as an officer in the Paratroop Brigade reserves of the Southern Command, from the position of company commander up to the position of brigade commander
  • In February of 2000 he was appointed as commander of the Edom formation, and received a promotion of rank to Brigadier General.
  • In June of 2001 he was appointed as commander of the Battalion and Company Commander's Course
  • From 2002-2004 he served as commander of the Brigade Commanders Course
  • In May of 2002 he returned to regular service and was appointed as President of the Israeli Military Court of Appeals and received a promotion of rank to Major General
  • In August 2007, he completed his service as President of the Israeli Military Court of Appeals and returned to work as a law professor in the Hebrew University in Jerusalem
