Maj. Gen. Avi Mizrahi was born in Haifa, Israel in 1957.

Between 1987 and 1981 he was a Company Commander of the Yishai Division and the Bnei Or Division in the Armor Corps.
In 1981 he was appointed Deputy Battalion Commander of the Kfir Infantry Brigade.
Between 1982 and 1988 he was released from active duty.
In 1988 he served as the Nachshon Battalion Commander.
In 1990 he was appointed the Deputy Commander of the Bnei Or Division.
Between 1991 and 1992 he was the Commander of the Armor Corps Officer Training Course.
In 1992 he was the Commander of a Reserves Armor Brigade and was one of the founders of the "Merkava 3" Armor Brigade and the Commander of the Armored Warfare Center at the.Ground Training Center 
In 1994 he was appointed the Commander of the "Akevot Barzel" Armor Brigade.
In 1996 he was a Ground Forces representative in "TRADOC" in the United Stated.
Between 1998 and 2001 he was the Commander of a Reserves Division and the Commander of the course for Company and Battalion officers.
Between 2001 and 2003 he served as the Commander of the Division.
In 2003 he was appointed the Chief of Staff of the Ground Forces.
In 2005 he was appointed the Chief of the Technology and Logistics Command.
From 2007 until 2009 he served as the Chief of the Ground forces.

Major General Mizrahi received a Business and Management Bachelors degree from Pace University in New York. He is married and the father of three children.
