Major General Ami Shafran was born in 1954

Major General Shafran enlisted into the IDF in 1972, to the Communications and Electronics Corps

  • 1976: Major General Shafran served as a project manager in the Intelligence Corps technological alignment.
  • 1987: Major General Shafran served as the Head of the Technology and Computer research in the Intelligence Corps Research and Development Branch.
  • 1991: Major General Shafran served as the Head of the Research and Development Department
  • 1995: Major General Shafran served as project manager in the Center for Development of Weaponry and Infrastructure.
  • 1996: Major General Shafran served as the IDF research and development representative in Washington.
  • 1998: Major General Shafran served as Assistant to the Chief of General Staff.
  • 2002: Major General Shafran served as head of Research and Development and the Center of Weaponry and Infrastructure Development. Several months later, he was appointed Head of the Ministry of Defense Staff.
  • 2006: Major General Shafran was appointed Head of the Teleprocessing Branch and promoted to the rank of Major General.

Major General Shafran holds a BA in electronic engineering from Ben Gurion University. He also has an MA in business management from Tel Aviv University.

Major General Shafran is married, and has five children.
