The Commander of the United States Army European Command (EUCOM), Admiral James G. Stavridis, landed in Israel a short while ago and began an official three day visit. He will be staying in Israel as the guest of the Deputy Chief of the General Staff, Maj. Gen. Benjamin Gantz.

The purpose of the visit is to discuss matters of cooperation between the two militaries, during which he will visit the combined Israel-US exercise, Juniper Cobra 10, which is currently taking place.

During his visit, Admiral James G. Stavridis is scheduled to meet with the Chief of the General Staff, Lt. Gen. Gabi Ashkenazi, the Deputy Chief of the General Staff, Maj. Gen. Benjamin Gantz and several other commanders. The Admiral will be accompanied by other EUCOM commanders.

This is the Admiral's first official visit to Israel. The Admiral is scheduled to attend a memorial ceremony in the Yad Va'Shem Holocaust Memorial and Museum as well as tour the city of Jerusalem.
