IDF Announcement: News Desk

This morning (Sept. 22), a Palestinian woman sprayed toxic acid on an IDF soldier lightly to moderately injuring the soldier.  The Palestinian woman was crossing through the humanitarian lane, which is strictly designated for medical purposes and emergencies, of the Hawara crossing located south of Nablus. The soldier received initial medical treatment on the scene, and was rushed to hospital for further treatment. In addition, three Palestinians were injured from the attack.

The woman was arrested on the scene by security forces and was later transferred to the Israeli Police.

An initial investigation shows that the Palestinian woman had preformed a similar act of terror on September 10th, 2008, in which an IDF soldier was lightly injured by toxic acid she sprayed on his face.

Despite these persistent terror attacks, the IDF is currently investing many resources to renovate the Hawara crossing for the convenience of the Palestinian population in the area and to improve the traffic through it.
