The IDF Education and Youth Corps is currently working on the final stages of development for a new project aimed at educating soldiers in the Southern Command of the IDF about the environment.  The project will take place in Nitzanah, which is located in the South of Israel.  "The program is still in the works, but it has a lot of potential, " says Captain Hannan Neve,  who serves as the Director of Environmental Activities and is in charge of spearheading the project.  "Niztanah is a place with a lot of potential environmentally, and there is a lot of information there about solar energy, different ways in which to use solar power, the ecology of the desert and recycling initiatives.  I am optimistic that we will be able to begin this project in the near future."  The project will include both a tour of Nitzanah and hands-on educational activities for the participants.

The IDF Education and Youth Corps is dedicated to educating its soldiers about the environment, and the project in Nitzanah is one of many important initiatives.  The IDF seeks to uphold the principle that protecting the State of Israel also means protecting the environment and its natural resources.
