The court case of Iad Massimi who took part in the perpetration of the attack on the old Central Bus Station in Tel Aviv on the 19th of January 2005, took place in the Military Court of Samaria today (Monday). Massimi was convicted by confession of assisting to make the bomb which the suicide bomber used to perpetrate the attack. Among the convictions were being a member of the Al Aqsa Martyrs Brigade, participating in terror exercises, and perpetration of shooting attacks. The Military Court of Samaria refused the appeal to give the convicted 30 years with the possibility of parole, and gave him a life sentence.

When the alternative sentence was suggested, the defense attorney of the convicted said that his client did not take a significant part in the attack, and therefore his conviction should be different from that of the person who sent the terrorist to perpetrate the attack, and a 30 year sentence should be sufficient. That sentence, in his opinion, would even be worse than the actions themselves. The court said in return: "the actions of the convicted were cardinal, and paramount for the continuation of the attack. He acted as the explosives expert and left his expertise at the disposal of the planners of the attack, and created the explosive which injured dozens, and miraculously killed none. Without the explosive, the attack would not have happened, just as it would not have happened had the suicide bomber not taken part. Therefore, when it comes to the punishment, there is no reason to differentiate between the explosives expert, and the suicide bomber who detonated it."

To further explain the judgment passed for both parties, the presiding judge of the court, Major Amit Prize that the conicted is receiving a just punishment, "whether we compare him to the suicide bomber about to perpetrate the attack, or to the planner sending the terrorist, who is himself nowhere near the final act".
