Wednesday (October 28th) night marked a unique and emotional evening that noted 14 years since the assassination of Yitzhak Rabin, Prime Minister of Israel and seventh Chief of Staff. The evening, held for the seventh consecutive year, took place in the Gan Shmuel Dining Hall. It was a joint production between the Israel Army Radio, the Chief Education Officer and the Menashe Regional Council.

The event was held in the presence of Rabin’s family, the Deputy Chief of Staff, Maj. Gen. Benny Gantz, commander of the Central Command, Maj. Gen. Avi Mizrahi, commander of the Southern Command, Maj. Gen. Yoav Galant, the IDF Spokesperson, Brig. Gen. Avi Benayahu; commander of the Israel Army Radio, Mr. Isaac Tonic and other senior officers. During the evening, several famous Israeli artists performed on stage singing songs of hope and peace, accompanied by military bands and local choirs.

"Tonight, as a tradition, we remember the man and the dream for peace,” said Deputy Chief of Staff to the general public, and also added that the IDF will continue to fortify the same dream with the next generations.

The musical evening began with a song of friendship and ended with a song of peace, with the performances of Sassi Keshet and the Education and Youth Corps band. Moreover, the daughter of Yitzhak Rabin, Dalia Rabin, spoke and said, "It's sad, beautiful, true and symbolic to use both songs during this evening, which summarizes his life story." She added, "I have no doubt that this is the way he would be happiest, to see us commemorate him."

At the end of the evening, Maj. Gen. Gantz said to the IDF website, "This event is warm, humble and beautiful," and concluding by saying, "There are many things that need to be a part of the legacy of Yitzhak Rabin, and one of them is certainly poetry.”
