On Tuesday (Oct. 27) a Katyusha rocket fired from Lebanese territory fell in the northern Galilee. IDF forces responded with artillery fire at the source.

On Tuesday (Oct. 27) a Katyusha rocket was fired from southern Lebanon into Israeli territory. The rocket fell in an open area in the northern Galilee. No causalities were reported however a fire broke out in the area. IDF artillery returned fire towards the source of the shooting.

This is the second time in less than two months where terrorist organizations have fired missiles from Lebanon at northern Israel. Last month, two Katyusha rockets were fired at the western Galilee. The IDF returned fire at the source, and filled a formal complaint with UNFIL forces stationed along the Israeli-Lebanese border.

The two events constitute a flagrant violation of UN resolution 1701, which brought an end to the Second Lebanon War. The IDF stressed that the Lebanese government is responsible for shootings carried out from Lebanese territory.
