On Monday (Mar. 16), the Military Court of the Samaria Region sentenced Amjad Kadari, resident of Nablus, who was convicted of supervising the Global Jihad website Alhasba, to 14 months of active prison term and a monetary fine. The website includes, among other things, content provided by the global terror organization Al-Qaida.

Amjad Kadari began his work on the website in the beginning of 2006, after one of the senior operators of the website authorized him to change the content of the site, which until then only members of the site were permitted to do. After three months of membership, Amjad Kadari accepted the offer of that same senior operator to supervise the website. In the framework of his job, the accused was allowed to sort contents on the website and to classify them in the appropriate category. In addition to that, the convict had the opportunity to edit the contents of the website, which include, among other things, clips documenting terror attacks and news updates about different terror organizations.

Just before the court declared its verdict, the accused turned to the judge, Maj. Yariv Navon, for a final plea claiming that he entered the website out of curiosity and because he wanted to enrich his knowledge through the information on the website. He also said that he intended to converse with senior people of the Arab world who were members of the website.

When the judge read the sentence, he explained his decision to the convict: "It seems that it is unnecessary to state the seriousness of this act, that was committed according to the evidence brought and upon the defendant's own admission, especially when speaking about a hostile organization such as Al-Qaida or any other terror organization that is a part of Global Jihad and that states in its doctrine hostility toward the State of Israel and its civilians.” He also noted that: “It is not unnecessary to stress that the internet can have a significant contribution in the greasing the wheels of terror organizations, in the communication of the dangerous messages of these terror organizations to the entire world.”
