On Wednesday (July 2), a ceremony for the replacement of Edom Formation commander was held at Mt. Yehoram, near Eilat. Brigadier General Tamir replaced former Edom Formation Commander, Brigadier General Yoel Strik, who served as commander of the formation for the past two years and will be appointed as commander of the Galilee Formation. The event was held in the presence of the GOC Southern Command, Major General Yoav Gallant.

“I finished my job with the feeling of satisfaction and pride,” noted exiting formation commander, Brig. Gen. Strik, during the ceremony. “With continuous efforts and with a deep sense of responsibility, we succeeded together to bring a change to the situation including operational understanding, imposing other military norms, strengthening a broader connection and putting the Edom Formation on the map.” Facing soldiers and officers of the division, the newly appointed commander said, “There are many tasks and challenges that will be expected from you.”

Brig. Gen. Tamir, who last served as a commander in the Golani Brigade, said during the event: “There are a lot of challenges facing the division with the ability to affect the future and security of the State of Israel. I believe that we can challenge this, maintaining the division and strengthening as a unit who can lead and dominate initiatives in response to threats and challenges of tomorrow.”
