The IDF website hosts lone soldiers who immigrated to Israel by themselves
Tal Moise
In Judaism, it is a tradition to host guests or Ushpizin (Aramaic for "guests") in your sukkah (traditional hut) everyday during the seven day holiday of Sukkot. This year the IDF website hosts lone soldiers (soldiers whose parents live outside Israel) who chose to connect their fate with the IDF and the State of Israel, in order to try to understand what stands behind their decision and how they feel as new Israelis dressed in uniform.
Blue eyes, freckled smile and red hair does not disclose the fact that Private Israel Fletcher is a lone soldier in the IDF. He did not feel like that either since after several months in the Netzah Yehuda Battalion loneliness evaporated. This, he says, because of the warm relationship he holds with his commanders and with his friends from the battalion.
